HOW CAN I BRING MYSELF TO USE MY HUSBANDS MONEY TO START MY OWN BUSINESS?
This is what a thirty something woman asked me during a coaching session last December.
After being a stay-at-home expat mom for a few years she was thinking about starting her own business as a nutritionist. She requested a free assessment call with me on Skype to discuss her first steps.
In the first few minutes of the session we established what her dream job was and whether it was even feasible for her to start building something.
Nutrition was her passion, it was clear. But she definitely needed nutrition training to be an expert and to create a business rather than just pursue a hobby. The investment was over 5,000 euros.
“How can I use my husband’s money to start my business? We need the money for our family, for the kids.”
This one question opened a Pandora’s box of fears and doubts that many of us have as expat stay-at-home moms when it comes to starting a business.
· My husband is working so hard – he needs me to take care of our home.
· What if I fail and all the money goes to waste?
· What if my kids feel I don’t have time for them anymore?
· What if we run out of money?
· What will my family back home say?
· What if I don’t have time to clean the house?
· What is my husband leaves me?
Sounds familiar?
The truth is you won’t know the answer to these questions until you try.
And you’ll never try unless you stop using your fears as an excuse to do nothing about starting a business.
And you’ll never succeed in your business unless you make your first move.
And one of the first moves is getting your husband on board.
